Russia

Until today rugs which are from non-Russian areas of the former Soviet Union are called Russian rugs. E.g. many provenances of Caucasia like Armenia, Baku, Dagestan etc. and also the Turkmenian provenances like Beshir, Bukhara Ersari etc. If one cannot spot the detailed origin of a rug it is often just called Russian.
