Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan is the antique Atropane, a landscape in North West Persia divided into the the provinces of West Azerbaijan with the capital of Rezaiyeh and East Azerbaijan with the capital of Tabriz and the Russian part of Azerbaijan with the capital of Baku. The Persian part of it is a Highland around Tabriz. Azerbaijan belongs to the main centers of Persian carpet making. You will find rugs from this provenance with motifs from Central Persia as well as Caucasian and Kurdish motivs and designs.
