American Sarouk

"American" Sarouks are of course not made in America, they are re-imports from America to Europe. In the beginning of the 20th century up to the 30s, Sarouk rugs were made specifically for the American market and taste which had of course common characteristic designs and colors. These were apparently also much appreciated by Europeans which can be concluded by their high popularity to this day. Sarouk is located in West Iran, in the zone of production of Arak. The source of this important provenance has been in the village of Sarouk (also written Sarough) North of Arak. Sarouks are known to be of high quality. The pile is usually higher than the average Persian rug and therefore Sarouks are rather heavy and solid rugs, the wool being used is high quality durable wool.
